His animal instincts heard the sound of a human breathing hard. He saw a thief with a women’s purse and a pistol. The thief saw the yellow eyes of the beast. He shot and hit the beast in the shoulder but John howled and pounced onto his prey. He began clawing the man’s face like a savage animal. The women ran and saw the wolf feasting on the robber’s corpse. She screamed in terror but, before her cries were heard, John slashed open her throat. Blood splashed on his face he roared in victory and ran off into the night.
John awoke the next morning thinking it all was a dream but his shoulder ached with pain he looked for a wound and saw a bullet in his shoulder. He realized his nightmare was reality. He went to school and was better than ever. In gym he was as fast and cunning as a wolf. In football he pounced more than tackled. His adrenalin was beastly. In class he was distracted by smells and sounds no man would think existed. At the end of the day instead of taking the bus he ran home through the woods; this power was unlike any power in the world. As he praised his abilities, the terrifying images of murder haunted him. No one would be safe when the beast came out but he was afraid to find out what could happen when the beast is held captive. He ran home and prepared for a date with Erin.
Chapter Two: Fear of the Dark
He picked her up at four and they ate dinner at their favorite Italian place, Bianca Luna. They went to a precipice to watch the sunset. He always felt content with her by his side as if the beast didn’t exist. Then when darkness devoured the sky the moon lit up the night. John thought he would become the beast in seconds but he did not feel animal like. He remand sitting in the car gazing up at the stars. Then, he heard a wolf’s howl. Erin fell asleep he got out of the car and went into the woods.
